Honestly, I’m very happy with Musetti’s victory over Zheng. The young Italian showed that he could raise his level in important moments and gradually wear down his opponent to win in 2 sets.
On paper, Zheng didn’t seem that far off, but there is still a huge ‘but’: Musetti is clearly a notch above technically and he seems completely impervious to pressure in this kind of match.
Statistically, we see that Musetti dominated the rallies with 75% of first serves and only 2 break points conceded. He was able to take the initiative and not let Zheng dictate the pace.
